Teenagers

Let's give teenagers a break!

Teenagers are getting a lot of bad press these days. Rather than writing off a generation, it's time to understand where teenagers are coming from, and to recognise what adults can do to bring out the best in them.

Awash with hormones, emotions wildly fluctuating, and under pressure from all sides, it can be tough being a teenager.

Teenagers are on a journey that transforms their mind, body and spirit from that of a child to that of an adult. It can be a difficult and uncomfortable journey, and sometimes they lose their way. It's our job to guide them, to provide space for them to grow, and to assist them to find their path.

If adults understand that it is the job of each and every one of us to give this support to the next generation, then teenagers can grow into the responsible citizens that we welcome into our society.
